Introduction

An understanding of accounting concepts is an essential part of business literacy,  and a pre-requisite for sound judgements which have a financial implication. This 3 weeks programme is designed to familiarize participants with the basic concepts of government accounting and give them a working knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures.

Course Objectives

By the end of this program, the participants will be able to:

  • Participants in the nine steps of the accounting cycle

  • Properly place debits and credits in 'T' accounts

  • Post transactions in a general journal and general ledger.

  • Prepare a trial balance

  • Prepare common financial statements
